EN8 Grade Introduction:EN8 is an unalloyed medium carbon steel grade with reasonable tensile strength. It is normally supplied in cold-drawn or as-rolled conditions. Tensile properties can vary but are usually between 500-800 N/mm². EN8 is widely used for applications that require better properties than mild steel but does not justify the costs of alloy steel. EN8 can be flame or induction hardened to produce a good surface hardness with moderate wear resistance. EN8 is available from stock in the bar and can be cut to your requirements. We also offer flame cut plates cut to your required sizes and normalized. EN8 plates can be supplied surface ground or precision ground. EN8 Grade Application:EN8 steel material is suitable for all general engineering applications requiring a higher strength than mild steel such as:
  • general-purpose axles
  • shafts,
  • gears,
  • bolts and studs.
  • spindles,
  • automotive and general engineering components,
  • other general engineering parts etc.

  •
    • Material:Mild Steel, a type of steel with a low carbon content (typically 0.05% to 0.25%).
    • Shape:Flat, circular.
    • Properties:
      • Strength: Offers good tensile strength, making it suitable for various structural and industrial applications.
      • Ductility: The low carbon content allows for easy shaping, cutting, and forming.
      • Weldability: Mild steel is easily welded, making it suitable for projects where metal components need to be joined.
      • Corrosion Resistance: Not naturally corrosion-resistant, but can be treated with coatings like galvanization or painting.
    • Applications:
      • Manufacturing: Used for creating components like pipes, tubes, cylinders, and rings.
      • Industrial: Used in various industrial machinery, automotive components, and more.
      • Construction: Used in construction for various purposes.
  • Mild Steel Heavy Circle, also known as an MS circle, is a flat, circular sheet made of low-carbon steel, offering good strength, ductility, and weldability, commonly used in various industrial applications. Here's a more detailed description:

Alloy steel forging involves shaping steel, which contains carbon and other alloying elements like manganese, silicon, and nickel, through compressive forces at high temperatures, resulting in improved mechanical properties and desired shapes. Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • What it is:Alloy steel forging is a process where steel, which is an alloy of iron and carbon, is combined with other elements (like manganese, silicon, nickel, chromium, etc.) to achieve specific properties, and then shaped by applying compressive forces at high temperatures.
  • Alloying Elements:Alloying elements are added to carbon steel to enhance properties like strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and toughness.
  • Forging Process:The forging process involves heating the alloy steel to a malleable temperature and then using pressure to shape it into the desired form.
  • Benefits:Forged alloy steel parts exhibit improved mechanical properties compared to carbon steel, including increased strength, hardness, toughness, and resistance to wear and corrosion.
  • Applications:Alloy steel forgings are used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, oil and gas, aerospace, and machinery manufacturing, where high strength and durability are critical.
  • Examples of Alloy Steels:Common alloy steels used for forging include 4130, 4140, 4330, 4340, 8620, 8630, 9310, Nitralloy 135, F11, F22, and F91.
