• High Hardness and Wear Resistance:Both grades are known for their ability to withstand wear and abrasion due to their martensitic structure, which allows for heat treatment to achieve high hardness. 
• Corrosion Resistance:While they offer good corrosion resistance, it's not as high as austenitic grades. 
• Heat Treatability:Both grades can be hardened by heat treatment. 
• Applications:They are commonly used in applications requiring high hardness, wear resistance, and some degree of corrosion resistance, such as cutlery, surgical instruments, and various industrial components. 

• Carbon Content: SS 420 has a slightly higher carbon content than SS 410, which leads to greater hardness and strength.
• Hardness: SS 420 can achieve a higher Rockwell hardness than SS 410.
• Ductility: Due to the higher carbon content, SS 420 may have slightly lower ductility compared to SS 410.
